Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes Wednesday April 9, 2014

Acceptance of Previous Minutes from March 26, 2014 meeting
-Jen makes a motion to accept minutes, Jaime second
-All in favor (4-0)

New Business:
Gary DPW- Pool update (by Kelly)
- can’t get exact bids until the pool cover is off
Need for safe, desk, and new computer
- safe for the pool so that the money can stay there over night… $80 an Amazon
- need two basic desks…Jaime will check into what Commerce has, which will donate it to non-profit
Popcorn Machine- should we charge a rental fee and/or deposit
- maybe $20 rental fee for other organizations using it
- clean it or don’t use it again
- Jen makes a motion for a $20 rental fee for the popcorn machine with a “clean it or don’t use it again” policy, Anita second- all in favor (5-0)
Recreation Director Report-Kelly
-Summer Fun- people are looking to come 3 days a week- yes at $45 a day drop in fee
-Rebecca makes a motion to include a $25 registration fee per family for 2014 Summer Fun, but waived if you sign up before June 1st, Mark second- all in favor (6-0)
-Swim lessons- people asking for multi-child discount
-anyone signing up after July 2nd “will be subject to a late fee”
Mark-basketball hoops
-big cost… needs to be completely redone
- waste of money to temporarily fix them
Safeplace Update- Kaitlyn
-$5 off registration fee before August 4th
Old Business:
Easter Egg Hunt
- 4 age groups (3&under, 4-5, 6-7, and 8-10)
- all groups on large “soccer” field
- 3 and under closet to the soccer shed, then go up age groups with oldest closet towards the road
- kids will turn in empty eggs for good bags to committee members under 2 pop-up tents
- 9-10am will be sign ups for summer programs and pictures with the Easter bunny, crafts, and games
Mother/Son Event- Friday May 16th
-Sherry to run it
-$100 to buy 5-$20 prizes
discussion- hard to have events without volunteers to help run them
Father/Daughter Dance- put on hold for now
Mother/Son- put on hold for now
